Four More Years. #2012election

This photo has received 4 million Likes on Facebook.
You'd be surprised how effective social media is in disseminating a message to a mass audience. Twitter and Facebook are digital diaries that can capture some of life's most proudest moments. Barack Obama has been re-elected for four more years and his Tweet with a picture of him embracing First Lady Michelle is the most shared picture of all time. During Election Day, Twitter experienced 31 million tweets and hit a peak of 327,452 tweets per minute as Obama was declared the winner.

The 2012 election was a year of record breaking moments including the highest ever spent in advertising a presidential election, totaling to a staggering $4.2 billion! The social networks were on fire as voters shared their opinions and exchanged heated debates on Election Day through Facebook and Twitter.

"Four more years." The most shared image of all time.
The photo has been retweeted more than 785,000 times and surpasses Justin Bieber to make the image the most popular pic of Twitter's history. "Four more years" has been shared more than half a million times and has thus far received almost four million Likes on Facebook passing up Zuckerberg's recent wedding photo in May.

The President and the Democratic Party did not waste any time in posting the image to their respective social media outlets to thank the supporters who made the re-election possible. This photo was actually taken on August 15th during an Obama rally in Dubuque, Iowa.

The posts symbolize the power social media played in creating buzz about the 2012 presidential race. Obama's campaign congratulated supporters via Facebook and Twitter before he emailed voters or addressed a victory rally on Wednesday in Chicago.
