Microsoft v. Apple: Which Tablet Will Win?

Microsoft Surface Tablet
Apple has created a pretty unbeatable reputation when it comes to ... well, everything.  They have created an empire of technology from laptop computers to tablets to smartphones.  Microsoft, on the other hand, has had a really tough time keeping up with Apple.  But today, Microsoft unveiled its Surface tablet.  With competition on the rise, Microsoft is fighting back against the iPad.

The new Microsoft tablet, called "Surface," is comparable to the Apple iPad, a little heavier but thinner. The screen is a larger than the iPad at 10.6" and will have the Microsoft Office suite. The tablet will be operated by the Windows 8 operating system and will have a cover that doubles as a keyboard.  Just like the Apple iPad, there will be optional memory sizes of 32GB and 64GB.

Microsoft didn't stop there at their LA press conference today.  They also announced the release of their "ultrabook," which is a lighter, thinner laptop and will come with 64GM or 128GB of memory.  But with tablet sales expected to triple in the next two years to 180 million, will this be enough to help Microsoft top Apple?  Apple has sold 67 million tablets since their release two years ago and because Apple's reputation on the mobile devices has a been so flawless, it seems nothing can stand in their way.  Microsoft announced the release of their tablet by Christmas shopping season.
