Slingbox launches new devices for TV by mobile

Slingbox 350 & 500 stream TV content to mobile.
The way consumers watch TV and movies is always changing. Smartphones and tablets allow users to stream video content effortlessly. Slingbox is introducing two new TV streaming devices which will enable cable subscribers to stream HD TV to mobile devices and computers.

Imagine watching a live stream or DVR from another room, state or country using a smartphone, tablet or computer. The Slingbox is a device that streams content from cable straight to your mobile and computer devices. The product is in response to cable's slow move to stream content via Internet and mobile devices. "It's estimated that by the end of 2012, 3.6 million people in the U.S. will have opted out of cable for alternative services such as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime" (CNN). However, these consumers, called "cord cutters" will contribute to less than 5% of subscribers. Cord cutters take an alternative to cable by using streaming services and sites to watch their content.

Slingbox was founded in 2004.
Slingbox is launching two new streaming devices. The Slingbox 350 costs $180 and can stream videos up to 1080p and has streamlined the set-up process. The Slingbox 500 offers the 1080p functionality, but costs $300 because of a new feature called SlingProjector, which makes it possible to stream content from your computer or mobile devices back to your TV. The company is also updating their software package, SlingPlayer and offering it for $15 for iOS, Android, and Windows Phone apps. Both SlingBox devices will go on sale this Sunday. Shoppers can buy these devices direct online or through retailers like Best Buy.
If you are willing to pay for cable or satellite subscriptions, then Slingbox is a solution you may want to look into for streaming content on your content and mobile devices. However, one of the major drawbacks is the fact that only one person can control the TV at a time. In the end, Slingbox takes the content you love and transfers it to the phone in your hand.
