Hi there! This is our very first blog post. We are very excited to introduce ourselves to you so we are going to take a few sentences to introduce ourselves individually. This blog has been created as part of our BUSA 361, or e-Marketing, class in the PLU School of Business. We are going to post and maintain this blog over the next few months.
Alyssa is a senior at Pacific Lutheran University. She is a Business Administration major with an emphasis in Marketing. She decided to take eMarketing as her elective because she thinks online marketing is becoming crucial to a firm’s overall success. The Internet is allowing people to be reached in a whole new way. Businesses are beginning to integrate an online marketing strategy into their global marketing plan. But it is beyond social media and email marketing, firms are beginning to provide mobile applications to their customers. This is huge for companies and will ultimately shape the way that companies interact with their customers. Alyssa typically utilizes applications on her Motorola Droid Thunderbolt that provide some organizational benefits, convenience features, or allow her to keep connected through social media and e-mail. She is particularly interested in blogging about privacy issues and new applications that add additional convenience to her busy life.

Zach is a junior at Pacific Lutheran University - and he too is studying Marketing in the Morken School of Business. Along with business, he is also aiming to receive a minor in Economics by the time he graduates in Spring 2013. He is taking e-Marketing because he is hoping to one day have a marketing position that utilizes social media and other online tools to help brand an organization or conduct market research. In his personal life, Zach is wired by his Motorola Droid X - using it to plan his schedule, make appointments, communicate with others, browse news, and kill some free time. He is particularly interested in blogging about new products and applications, new features, or any concerns that may arise with mobile networking.

Joe is also a junior at PLU as well as a marketing major. As well as being a student he is also an ROTC cadet and hopes to commission in the US Army with a focus in the logistics field. Unlike Zach and Alyssa, Joe has a “dumb” phone, and instead uses the Apple iPad to keep up using tools such as Google Currents, Facebook, and Twitter. He took e-Marketing in order to learn how to leverage today’s current advancements to reduce waste and get the message out. His blog posts will typically revolve around current developments across the world and how that affects the average mobile device user.

In this blog, we are going to talk specifically about mobile technology that influences, assists, and even helps simplify our daily lives. We will be trying to provide some answers to the following questions: What do mobile apps really have access to? Are apps making our lives easier or adding new stress? What kind of information do your apps know about you (and who are they sharing it with)? What kinds of products are worth using for your business and personal objectives?
We look forward to your questions, comments, or concerns!
Very nice introduction! I'm looking forward to following your blog over the next few months.
